schindlers list

Schindler’s list is a film about a German businessman who fights for the freedom of the Jewish citizens in Poland. He fights for their freedom by allowing many of them to work for him in his company to make pottery and other metal goods for the German army. I believe that was the most significant and impacting leaders for the Jewish community during the Nazi reign in World War II. As shown in the film, Oskar Schindler was confident of himself and confident that his business would thrive. After watching the Nazi’s imprison the Jewish people, Schinder had a brilliant idea of allowing the Jewish people work for him. In the German’s eyes the Jewish people were working for German business for free, which would allow for Schindler’s business to thrive. However, in Schindler’s eyes he was not only obtaining free labor but he was saving the lives of hundreds of Jewish people. This was a form of leadership among both the German army and among the Jewish community because Oskar was standing up to the German army because of his compassion for the Jewish during this time period. Also, during the movie Oskar Schindler paid off Amon Goeth, a German captain, and a number of other German officials for the lives of over 1,000 Jewish people to work in his factory. Goeth was a dismissive individual and killed jews for his own pleasure. Schindler somehow convinced Goeth to let over 1,000 jews in his concentration camp live for Schindler’s factory. During the film Goeth is talking to Schindler about how he admires Schindler’s ability to control how much he drinks. Schindler explains to Goeth that he has power over himself and has control over himself which shows his leadership qualities. After discovering this Goeth tries for one day to not kill any Jews, however after one instance with a young jewish boy, Goeth gives in to his temptations and kills the young man. In this film Oskar Schindler shows his leaderships qualities through different channels, which allowed him to stand up against the German army and allowed him to save the lives of over 1,000 Jewish people.
